Lacebark Elm + Laminated Ash coffee table
Live edge slab sourced about 30’ from my house after a tree fell during a hurricane. Lacebark elm is very dense and has some beautiful color. This one had some spalting and character due to the crotch section. The edges are burn and laminated in a “shou sugi ban adjecent” method. The bent lamination base is made from laminated ash, with a solid ash piece traversing it to stabilize. The base was brushed to showcase the open grain, and finished with several colors of milk paint in different layers, then finished with Osmo Poly-X. The top is also finished with Osmo Poly-X
