Bring a little piece of New Orleans history to your home - these coasters are cut from beams salvaged from a storm-damaged home in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood. Faubourg Marigny was settled in the early 1800’s, and was home to Jelly Roll Morton, among other New Orleans figures. The 4x4” beams had original mortise and tenon joinery, and were old growth pine when harvested. This lumber has lived through a huge amount of history in New Orleans, and is getting one more chance to serve a purpose rather than rotting in a landfill. The tight grain of this heart pine is incredible, especially when compared with available lumber now. Each coaster is a little bit different due to insect/weather/stress wear and tear, creating a very unique “live edge” effect.
